What to do when racers run off course? by Adam Kuhn
samedi, 08 octobre 2016
par 3-secondes
This is a question I’ve often thought about simply because I find it fascinating. Assuming the competitors did not have malicious intent who is truly at fault when competitors run off course? I bring up this question because I was at a race this year where the 1st place and 2nd place finishers of the

The Calgary Spartan Race Sprint took place at Wild Rose Motocross Park, which is located right in the heart of Calgary. With a venue located inside the city limits I was a little unsure of the quality of the course that’d I’d be racing on. The Wild Rose Motocross Park is roughly 650 m long

Just like there are many ways to tackle an obstacle, there are many ways to tackle nutrition in preparation for obstacle course racing. Regardless of how you eat, there are few important concepts to keep in mind: 1. In order to train hard on a regular basis and give your body the energy it needs

Nothing screams OCR more then crawling through a muddy barbed wire maze. A obstacle for some, a great photo op for others. I saw this set up for the first time at the end of the notorious 2014 Spartan World Championship. Given it was the end of the race and my grip strength had seen enough, I immediately fell off. The second encounter was the Montana Beast. Hopping on with cold hands at 7:30 in the morning

The Rope Climb is one of the hardest obstacles in any Obstacle Course Race Series and for some it’s harder to conquer than others. The rope climb has two factors you need to conquer before you’re able to complete this obstacle. First off, which comes down to the individual, is a fear of heights. Unfortunately

Oh yeah… it’s January 1st and I live in Canada. It was cold. But no Lake Tahoe. THAT was cold. The Pacific Ocean in January was the kind of cold that bites at your skin. The lake in the 2015 Tahoe World Championship Spartan Race gnawed on your bones. Take that for perspective. Obstacle course

Saturday, December 12, 2015 marked the open house for Calgary’s first and only Obstacle Course Gym called Cor.Fit. Naturally I had to stop by in the morning to check out the gym and test out some of the obstacles. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by one of the owners, who I
